Practicing with Patañjali: Yoga Sutra Chapter 1

$199.00

This 8-week online course offers a contemplative journey into the opening chapter of the Yoga Sutra of Patañjali, one of the foundational texts of the yogic tradition. Attributed to the sage Patañjali, the Yoga Sutra distills ancient teachings on the nature of mind, practice, and liberation into concise aphorisms that have guided practitioners for centuries.

Chapter One, Samādhi Pāda, sets the ground for the entire path of yoga, offering insight into attention, stillness, and the movements of consciousness.

Together, we will move slowly and deliberately through each sutra.

Our study will include chanting to experience the sound and rhythm of the language, careful exploration of key Sanskrit terms, and shared inquiry into how these teachings reveal themselves in daily life and practice.

Rather than seeking fixed interpretations, we will cultivate listening, reflection, and dialogue.

Between sessions, participants will be supported in personal study, contemplation, and embodied inquiry, allowing time for the sutras to settle and unfold.

Group discussion will serve as a space for connection, resonance, and collective understanding.

This course is open to anyone drawn to the philosophical and experiential roots of yoga. No prior knowledge of the Yoga Sutra or Sanskrit is required.

Tuesday Evenings, 5:15pm - 6:45pm March 3 - April 28, 2026
